Op grond van een grote reeks aan eisen is deze aanbesteding gewonnen door [http://www.ricoh.nl Ricoh]. De machines die ingezet worden, zijn zowel [[copiers|kopieerapparaat]] als [[Printers_en_printen|netwerkprinter]] als [[Scanners|scanner]] die de output via het netwerk kan versturen. De eerste machine staat in de bibliotheek (HG00.019). Het is een multifunctionele Ricoh Aficio MP C2500 waarop in kleur kan worden geprint, gescand en gekopieerd, ook op A3-papier.

* In eerste instantie is 1 kleurenmachine, genaamd *weber*, geplaatst in de bibliotheek. Wanneer er een Oce copier uit bedrijf wordt genomen, wordt een Ricoh machine ter vervanging geplaatst. Er zullen niet alleen zwart-witmachines geplaatst worden, maar ruwweg  1 op de 4 kleurenmachines. Deze hebben natuurlijk het voordeel dat er kleuren-output uit te krijgen is, maar als nadeel dat ze trager zijn en *onbedoeld* dure kleuren-output kunnen produceren.

There will not only be black-and-white machines, roughly 1 in 4 will be color machines. Of course these have the advantage that they can produce color output, but disadvantages are that they are slower and *without intent* can produce expensive color output.

* Kopi&euml;ren: Voor het kopi&euml;ren wordt vooralsnog gebruik gemaakt van de bekende [http://www.xafax.nl Xafax]-kaartjes. Een printjob wacht automatisch totdat een kopieerjob klaar is. Maar als er verschillende losse velletjes ingevoerd worden, dan geldt elk vel als een aparte kopieer-job. Dus het kan gebeuren dat een printjob wordt afgedrukt terwijl uw Xafax-kaartje nog in de copier zit. Het is getest dat de kosten van het printen NIET van uw kaartje afgeschreven worden. De prijs van de Xafax-kaartjes verandert niet. Er zijn veel mogelijke kopieeropties: in grijswaarden, in kleur, A4, A3, vergroten, verkleinen, etc. Een instructievel met de meest gebruikte mogelijkheden ligt bij het apparaat. Het tegoed op het kopieerkaartje moet tenminste voldoende zijn om een kopie van de duurste categorie te maken, m.a.w. minimaal 12 tikken. Als het minder is en u heeft ook een nieuw kaartje, dan kunt u het tegoed overzetten naar de Xafax kaartlezer en daarna het nieuwe kaartje gebruiken. De tegoeden van beide kaartjes worden dan opgeteld. Het aantal kopieertikken dat afgescghreven wordt, (1 tik = Eur 0,046) bedraagt:

* Copying: To make copies one has to use the well-known [http://www.xafax.nl Xafax]-cards. A printjob will wait automatically untill a copy job is finished. But if one copies several single sheets, each sheet is treated as a separate copy job, so a print job can come between them. We tested that the print costs are NOT charged to the Xafax copy card. The price of the Xafax-cards doesn't change. There are a lot of options when copying: in grayscale, in color, A4, A3, enlarge, shrink, etc. An instruction sheet with the most used options is present next to the machine.  To make a copy, the amount of money on the copy card must be sufficient to pay for the most expensive copy, which means at least 12 units. If it is less and one has a new copy card, one can transfer the money to the Xafax cardreader and then use the new Xafax card. The money on the two cards then is added together. The number of copy units that is subtracted from the card (1 unit = Eur 0,0046) is:

* Scannen: Scannen is gratis. Net zoals bij kopi&euml;ren zijn veel mogelijkheden in te stellen voor kleur, grootte, resolutie, uitvoerformaat (tiff of pdf). Het makkelijkste is om de gescande bladzijden te laten mailen. Kies de e-mail optie en dan de handmatige invoer om het e-mail adres in te tikken. Het is ook mogelijk om de uitvoer direct in de home-directory te plaatsen, maar dat is vrij bewerkelijk omdat dan de disk (\\server\login), de loginnaam en het wachtwoord moet worden ingetikt. Bovendien dan niet vergeten om na afloop de Clear toets te gebruiken zodat het apparaat het wachtwoord niet onthoudt.

* Scanning: Scanning is free. There are a lot of options for color, size, resolution, output format (tiff or pdf). It is advised to e-mail the scanned output to oneself, by choosing the e-mail option and then manual input for the e-mail address. It is also possible to put the scanned output file directly in ones homedirectory, but this is more cumbersome since the disk (\\server\login), the loginnname and the password have to be keyed in. Do not forget to use the Clear key in order to let the machine forget the password.

* Service: Er is een Ricoh-onderhoudsmonteur op de campus aanwezig. Daardoor kunnen storingen vrij snel opgelost worden. Zodra de machines geplaatst zijn en er enige ervaring mee is opgedaan, zullen we met Ricoh een instructie/voorlichtings-bijeenkomst organiseren.
