Netwerkschijf
Network disk on a Windows PC
To map a network share, open a 'Windows Explorer' window, for instance 'My Computer' or 'My Documents', click on 'Tools' -> 'Map Network Drive...' and enter as 'Folder:' \\servername\sharename For example the S-Disk with a lot of standard software can be mapped as \\sdisk.science.ru.nl\xpsoftware
On a PC maintained by the user or a laptop it is wise to use the same login name on the PC as the FNWI login name, Windows will use the local login name to make the connection. In other cases one should select 'Connect using a different user name'.
Network disk on a Mac
Connect to a network share on a Mac from within the Finder:
- Under the "Go" menu choose "Connect to Server..." (or type Command-K)
- Specify the share name as 'smb://servername/sharename', e.g. 'smb://sdisk.science.ru.nl/xpsoftware'
- Use a valid science login name and password to authenticate.
